The backing accord between Football Index and Queens Park Rangers (QPR) has concluded, with the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) halting Football Index’s participation.
The termination of the accord follows Football Index’s declaration that it was pausing its platform and entering administration, with the Gambling Commission also suspending the operator’s permit.
Before announcing the suspension of its platform, Football Index had considerably decreased the maximum payouts to players, stating that it would not be viable in the long run if the situation did not alter.
The BGC stated that it immediately suspended Football Index’s membership subsequent to the Gambling Commission’s suspension of the operator’s permit and is examining the specifics of the situation.
The BGC emphasized that as the standard-setting organization representing the regulated industry, its priority is to ensure the interests of Football Index clients are safeguarded.
Although a Football Index representative told iGB last week that its sponsorship agreements with QPR and Nottingham Forest would proceed as usual, QPR declared that its agreement with Football Index would end following the operator’s most recent announcement.
The agreement we have with Football Index is for a year, and we’re sure it will be successful,” a QPR representative stated. “However, due to recent happenings, the Football Index emblem will no longer be displayed on our home and away uniforms.”
QPR has not yet disclosed if they will secure a different sponsor for the remainder of the season. Nottingham Forest did not respond to inquiries regarding their partnership with Football Index.
