The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has declared that sports law specialist Raji Park will join its governing body.
Park will assume the position of Independent Non-Executive Director on the first of January, 2022.
He will be taking the place of Sir Paul Stephenson, who has served on the BHA board since 2015. Stephenson’s tenure will conclude on December 31, 2021.
“We are thrilled to welcome Raji to the board. His comprehensive experience in regulatory matters and sports law will be a valuable resource to the board and to horseracing,” stated BHA Chair Annamarie Phelps.
“We also express our sincere gratitude to Sir Paul Stephenson for his six years of service to horseracing at the BHA. He has played a crucial role in overseeing significant changes to the regulation and compliance of British horseracing. He is a man of integrity who is respected and appreciated by all on the board.”
Park possesses extensive experience in sports integrity and governance matters, having been involved in high-profile cases across a range of sports. He is currently a member of the Football Association’s Judicial Panel and an independent anti-corruption hearing officer for the Tennis Integrity Supervisory Board.
He also serves as a senior consultant to the Financial Conduct Authority.
Parker expressed his excitement about joining the BHA board during this pivotal period and participating in the horse racing sector.
